Products from organic farming
Our family has been running the Pollerhof here in Röschitz in the Weinviertel for over 100 years. For me, it was already clear when I was a little boy: being a winemaker is the greatest thing. This has not changed to this day.

Grüner Veltliner hühnergarten
once again, erwin poller has brought an exciting project into the bottle by turning a story into long-lasting pleasure. the idea is quite simple: erwin poller cultivates his vineyards organically. we are talking about organic for real. he engages little helpers - chickens in the vineyard. his feathered friends are industrious workers, who search for worms and fertilize the soil all day long. as a bonus, they even lay eggs and make us happy with their presence. when evening comes, they march into the chickenhouse especially built with a solar-powered door to protect them from the cold and hungry foxes. the poller chickens were freed from the dark destiny of factory farms – so-called rejects because of declining egg production. in the vineyard they have found their most essential task – to live a happy life.

White wine cuvée vom löss
loess, golden dust: during the ice age, about 2.5 million years ago, westerly winds carried fine sand from glacier areas and dry river valleys several hundred kilometers into the eastern part of austria. these deposits created fertile loess soil. loess provides a home for endangered bee and wasp species as well as a rare bird, the bee-eater. our vines grow and flourish on this fertile „golden dust“. from these grapes, we press our „vom löss“, which reflects the fertility of these soils. we developed himself and patendet a clever process that actually places this soil on the remarkable label.

Grüner Veltliner frau mayer
when mrs. mayer leased her vineyard in january 2006, it was only because erwin poller promised her to treat her vines with the same devotion and respect as she did. in 2006 the day had come for mrs. mayer to find trustworthy hands for her life's work and to pass on her legacy. no winter day had been too cold, no summer day too hot for her to tend this vineyard. unfortunately she could not live to see the moment of the first harvest. this wine from a vineyard that is now over 80 years old occupies a special position in our wine cellar. every year, this results in a excellent grüner veltliner. connection and gratitude are what inspire us to this homage to mrs. mayer.
To the wine

The big star of the Weinviertel is of course the Grüner Veltliner, without ifs and buts. But when a passionate winemaker puts in a little extra effort, even the second set plays big.
